Growing up in rural New Hampshire, no rx on a farm cultivated by my grandparents, more about I learned a lot from my mother, a trained draftsperson turned artisan craft maker.  I also learned key lessons through my father, who at the time of this story was a mechanic who specialized in Volkswagen Beetles.  This is the old Beetle, not the new sleek variant.  The one designed by a committee of Adolf Hitler and Ferdinand Porsche in 1934.  The Love Bug, an air-cooled, rear-wheeled, piece of craftsmanship with the engine in the trunk, designed to carry a family of 5 at cruising speed on the Autobahn without wasting any fuel.

Yak Wool Has No Resale Value

This title isn’t strictly true – yak wool actually goes for about $24 a kilogram, bought in bulk.  But my title, like the imperfect metaphor above it, served it’s purpose:  To talk about the interconnectedness of things and activities and how we can leverage, reduce and increase those connections to help our designs.  If we strive to build regenerative and lasting designs, we need to always observe how those systems interact with the real world, and constantly make iterative improvements in those processes.

In between lies an infinite ocean of points linking the two.  Above Leonardo Da Vinci lays out his thoughts on this subject, divining in his brilliant fifteenth century mind the very nature of natural selection, something Charles Darwin wouldn’t begin to chronicle for hundreds of years.
